Terms & cancellation
A starting point, not legal advice. Adapt these terms to your own practice before relying on them.
Sessions and fees
Sessions last 50 minutes and are charged at the rate published on the fees page, always visible, never "on application". Mentoring is arranged with, and invoiced to, a parent or carer. Payment is by bank transfer or card within 48 hours of each session, and the 10-session programme can be paid as two payments of £225. Fees are reviewed once a year, with at least a month's notice to existing families.
Cancellation
Life with teenagers is unpredictable, and the policy tries to be fair in both directions:
- More than 24 hours' notice: no charge, and we rearrange.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: the session is charged in full, because the hour was held. That said, teenagers run on teenagers' logistics, so the first short-notice cancellation is always waived, no questions asked.
- If I cancel: you'll never be charged, and you'll be offered the next available time that works.
The mentoring itself
Mentoring is a professional relationship a young person chooses, not a subscription their parents hold. The first session is the teenager's to judge; they can end the work at any time, and so can you, though a final session to close well is always worth having. I work to a written safeguarding policy, hold an enhanced DBS check and full professional insurance, and review the work openly with both the young person and their parents.
Confidentiality, in brief
What a young person shares with me is confidential, with the safeguarding exception explained before we start: where there is a risk to their safety or someone else's, I will always act and share what's needed with the right people. Parents receive themes and progress, never transcripts. The full picture is set out in plain words in the first parent call and the first session.
