Privacy policy

A starting point, not legal advice. This page was drafted as a sensible baseline for a small youth mentoring practice. Have it reviewed against your own circumstances before relying on it.

What this website collects

As little as possible, on purpose.

  • The enquiry form is written for parents and carers, and collects your name, your email address and whatever you choose to write, nothing more. Please don't include detailed personal information about your teenager at this stage; it isn't needed until we've spoken, and a website form isn't the place for it. Messages are delivered by Formspree and arrive in my practice inbox.
  • If you're under 18: you're welcome to read everything here and to email me a question, but enquiries about starting mentoring should come from a parent or carer.
  • Booking a call happens through Cal.com, which asks for your name, email and chosen time under its own privacy policy.
  • Analytics. This site uses Plausible, a privacy-first service that counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. No advertising trackers, ever.

Notes about sessions stay elsewhere

I keep session notes deliberately brief: themes, plans and anything safeguarding-relevant, never transcripts. They are not held on or connected to this website. They're stored securely, kept in line with my safeguarding policy, and both parents and young people can ask me what I record and why. I'll answer plainly.

How long I keep website messages

Enquiry emails are kept while we're in conversation and deleted within 12 months if we don't end up working together.

Your rights, including your teenager's

Under UK GDPR you can ask me what personal data I hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for corrections, or ask for it to be deleted. Email me and I'll respond within a month. Young people have these rights themselves, not only through their parents, and I'll always answer a young person's question about their own data directly. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
